About
When choosing a therapist, it can be helpful to know a bit about them.
A bit about me
I trained on the MSc Masters program at Birmingham Newman University. As an integrative practitioner, I believe that there is no “one size fits all” for counselling, meaning that I draw on different approaches depending on the individual I am working with. This means that I will tailor my approach depending on your needs. All my work is rooted in mindfulness and compassion. I also bring over thirteen years of personal meditation practice to my work.
I have experience working with people from a wide range of backgrounds. As a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community, I am passionate about creating a therapeutic space that feels safe and celebratory for each and every client. I am committed to anti-racist practice and continually challenging my own cultural privilege is a priority.
I take an explicit anti-oppressive stance in my work, which means I actively acknowledge and address the impact of systemic oppression — such as racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, and other forms of marginalization — on your mental health and wellbeing. Distress is never an individual failing or flaw; it is often deeply connected to the social, cultural, and political environments we live in.
In therapy, I hold space to explore not only personal experiences but also the broader systems and power structures that shape those experiences. This means your feelings, identity, and struggles are seen within the context of the challenges and barriers society places before you, rather than being pathologized or isolated from your environment.
Together, we work to build a healing space that affirms your whole self — including all aspects of your identity — without pressure to conform to dominant norms or ideas of “normality.” My approach centres your autonomy, resilience, and dignity as we navigate both internal and external challenges.
My work is underpinned by regular clinical supervision to ensure I work in the best possible and ethical way as your therapist.
Outside of therapy, I love reading, drinking tea and spending time in nature with my greyhound Luna. I also have a passion for community: I run a sober LGBTQ+ community event in South Birmingham, and facilitate Death Cafes.
